Single row angular contact ball bearings can only bear axial load in one direction. This type of bearing is usually adjusted relative to the second bearing. Their bearing rings have upper and lower shoulders and are inseparable.
The lower shoulder allows a larger number of balls to be installed in the bearing, thus giving the bearing a higher load carrying capacity.
